Completely In Canal (CIC) hearing aids
These tiny hearing aids are custom made using impressions of your ear. They are designed to sit further in your ear canal and are smaller and are much less visible than ITE hearing aids.
There are certainly a lot of benefits to them but due to their size, they can't have the same amount of features as their larger ITE, BTE and RIC counterparts.
They don't tend to have physical controls on the hearing aids themselves, although you can usually control them through a smartphone app or additional remote control.
As they are custom made to fit inside your ear canal perfectly, CIC hearing aids are comfortable and discreet
CIC hearing aids are naturally better at reducing wind noise as the outer ear acts as a shield
They can be adjusted discreetly using a smartphone app or remote control
Because they are placed further down the ear canal, they benefit from a more natural sound
Are CIC hearing aids right for you?
If discretion is an important factor when choosing hearing aids then CIC hearing aids could be the answer.
In fact only the faceplate (where the microphones and battery door is) is partially visible along with a small, clear plastic removal handle. The faceplate can be made in a range of colours to match your skin tone and further "disappear".
As they are smaller than most other hearing aids, physical space (and therefore power) is at a premium so they are most suitable for those with a mild to moderately severe hearing loss.
Because they are so small, they are better suited to people that have good dexterity.
